"Hi, my name is Mitchell DeJong. My discipline is Rallycross, Off-Road and Road Course. I was born on the15th of September 1997 in Laguna Hills, California. My special talent is juggling. My philosophy of life is Philippians 4:13. The most important person in my life is my parents. My favorite food is pasta. My favorite music is EDM."
At an age when most kids were pushing toy cars across the carpet pretending to be race car drivers, Mitchell DeJong was winning race championships. He won his first two championships -- in two different disciplines -- in the same year, at age 9. After a racing career that has moved him from go-karts to off-road modified trucks to Legend cars, DeJong has stepped up to the next off-road challenge, pitting him against drivers twice his age. But for a driver who knew at age three that he would be a racer, competing in the pro classes is just another challenge that he’ll tackle with the tenacity and skill he uses to attack the course.
Young but experienced, DeJong has raced competitively from the age of five and has proven himself a winner on pavement and dirt. He has the talent and ability to transform his skills between totally opposite forms of racing as he proved at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. DeJong raced his off-road modified truck on the short course dirt track to victory, then literally jumped out of his truck and rushed next door to the famous Las Vegas Bull Ring to race his Legend car on a 3/8-mile paved oval track and won it as well, all in the same day!
DeJong has taken rallycross racing by storm, and his hard work has paid off in overwhelming success. He claimed the victory at his first ever race on European soil in the FIA World Rallycross Championship and won the overall Championship title in the Red Bull Global Rallycross Lites class as well by age 16. Just one week later he became the youngest ever to be invited to compete in X-Games and the youngest ever to win the X-Games motorsports event, taking home a Gold and Silver medal on his 1st attempts.
